Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does the SS1500 have an integrated garment hanger?
The exact product-information table says Hanger Type: None and Wheels: None. The station has a hose-fed handheld steam head, so vertical steaming can be board-free if you supply a suitable separate hanger; the product does not present itself as an upright pole-and-hanger assembly.
Explore this need in the finder →Does SS1500 meet a 37.5 oz tank minimum?
The product and replacement-tank pages state 1.1 L, which converts to about 37.20 US fluid ounces. It meets a 37 oz minimum but falls below the next 37.5 oz step.
Explore this need in the finder →Can its station run for 80 maker-stated minutes?
The exact page lists an 80-minute steam duration from a 1.1 L tank. That is a manufacturer claim rather than an independently timed session; it clears the 50-minute form maximum but does not establish output at every selected level.

A base-and-hose station, not a handheld or pole unit
The SS1500 sits between the handheld and upright categories. The exact product page calls it a DuoPress Deluxe Steam Station; its image shows a separate base connected by hose to a held steaming/ironing head. It is therefore recorded as a station-format appliance, not as a conventional tank-in-handle handheld and not as a floor-standing steamer with a pole and hanger. The handheld steam head can be used on hanging clothes, but the specification table lists no hanger type. Plan to provide a separate secure hanger for vertical steaming.
The vertical steam arrangement does not need a separate horizontal ironing board, even though the SS1500 includes an iron mode. For horizontal dry ironing with steam burst, use a stable heat-resistant support. The exact page does not establish a full-size board or mat in the station package. Separating these two modes matters: a shopper who wants a crease and a shopper who wants hanging garment steam have different space and support needs.
Large tank and high maker-stated duration
SALAV lists 1.1 L of water, 25 seconds to ready, 1,150 watts and up to 80 minutes of steam. A separate SS1500 replacement-tank page also states 1.1 L. This converts to approximately 37.2 U.S. fluid ounces: the tank clears a 37 oz request but not a 37.5 oz minimum. The manufacturer also says the station can handle up to 20 garments, but that is not a measured count and will depend on settings and garments. The 80-minute claim is not an independent timer test, and a large reservoir does not reveal the rate of steam output.
The operating panel is unusually flexible compared with the smaller SALAV handhelds. The page lists seven digital steam levels and four named fabric modes—Silk, Blend, Linen and Wool—plus a dedicated dry-iron setting with steam burst. A steam level and a fabric-mode label are not the same thing, and neither is proof that a fabric can safely accept steam. Check the care label and instructions before using high heat, particularly on delicate or coated materials.
Reach, footprint and package identity
The table gives the station dimensions as 12.1 inches long by 8.5 inches wide by 10.2 inches high, with a 55-inch dual-insulated hose, built-in cord storage, a silicone carry loop and no wheels. Those are base dimensions, not the storage envelope of the hose, head and space required around a hot plate. Measure the path between the base and the garment, leave a safe location to rest the head, and check whether the separate hanger and pressing surface you need are available.
The current page lists Red (SKU SS1500 RED), White (SS1500 WHITE) and Rose Gold (SS1500 Rose Gold). The functional table repeats the same specifications for all three, so no performance difference by finish is documented here. This assessment uses a Red image; make sure the seller's exact finish, accessory list and return terms match your choice. The separate replacement-tank page says that one tank is included in the replacement-tank purchase and the SS1500 station is sold separately; that accessory listing should not be mistaken for the station's box contents.
Voltage, automatic shutoff and care
The exact product page lists 120 V and ETL certification. SALAV's U.S. FAQ says U.S. units are built for 110–120 V / 60 Hz, so the reviewed SS1500 is not a confirmed dual-voltage travel machine. It also lists automatic shutoff when inactive or empty and a self-cleaning mode. These are manufacturer-described safety and maintenance features, not an invitation to leave a hot head unattended; follow the exact supplied instructions and allow the plate and head to cool before storage. The support FAQ recommends distilled or demineralized water and emptying standing water after use.
The SS1500 is worth comparing if you want a relatively compact base connected to a separate handheld head, a large stated tank, multiple steam options and an iron function. It is less appropriate if “handheld” means a portable tool with its water tank in the handle, or if you need an integrated floor hanger, wheels, verified dual voltage or a lightweight item to pack. Check exact model, finish, included hose/head/tank, hanger plan, electrical label, clearance and seller terms. No timed steam result, wrinkle test or garment count is claimed in this assessment.
